Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of post-surgical unit experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
- Patient population includes surgery patients (colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, orthopedics, urology, vascular)
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Occasional floating required
- Self-scheduling based on unit needs with nurse manager input
- Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic charting systems
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of post-surgical unit experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills required: IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Additional experience preferred in accessing/managing ports, chest tubes, epidural analgesia, ortho trauma, and renal/hemodialysis management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to post-surgical patients including GI surgeries such as colon resections
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care, IV therapy, and use of rapid response/code teams
- 36-hour unit orientation provided
- Scrubs not provided; navy blue or white required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel status
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed
- RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO during first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- 13-week minimum contract length, longer contracts considered
