Description
American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of PICU experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit caring for children ages 0-18 with medical and surgical diagnoses
- Common diagnoses include respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical care, and neurology/neurosurgery conditions
- Unit provides ECMO, CRRT, renal/peritoneal dialysis, and complex supportive therapies
- Mixed unit with ICU and stepdown patients resulting in variable ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Up to 5 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
- Holiday coverage required if contract falls during a holiday period
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR system
Requirements
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide intensive and intermediate care to pediatric patients from across South Carolina
- Work alongside Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
- Pediatric Palliative Care services available as needed
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 staffed beds
- Interview preferred for candidates on their first travel assignment
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on the position
- Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to be prioritized; local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration and is subject to approval based on unit needs
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
