Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing care on a surgical unit with a diverse patient population, including adults with respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal issues, diabetic management, renal failure, and other infectious disease processes. The position requires working night shifts and is scheduled for a 13-week assignment starting on September 14, 2026.
Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, WI
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license, BLS (American Heart Association or ARC), minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience, trauma level II experience highly preferred, EPIC charting experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
- Shift Requirements: 12-hour nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM; float to all inpatient units as needed
- On Call/Call Back Requirements: Contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be worked in hour increments; low census typically in 4-hour blocks, not considered on call
- Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
- Additional Information: The unit primarily manages adult respiratory, neurological, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease conditions. Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:6-7 during nights. The desired candidate is resilient, adaptable, able to manage independently, and willing to collaborate effectively with team members. Flu and COVID vaccinations are mandatory during flu season; mask-wearing is required for unvaccinated travelers.
