Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with Magnet designation and Level I Trauma Center status (562 staffed beds)
- Urology/Nephrology-focused Medical Surgical unit with 25 beds and an average daily census of 23
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other Med/Surg units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling will be attempted but is not guaranteed
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required — must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
- Med/Surg and telemetry (remote monitoring) experience required
- Experience with genitourinary/renal cases including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
- Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Heparin administration experience required
- Respiratory experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
- Experience with rapid response teams, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Will serve in a charge nurse capacity as needed
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
- Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome — candidates with a strong Med/Surg foundation of 2+ years are encouraged to apply
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required, along with a full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
