Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring prior travel experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a short term acute care hospital
- Patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7
- Night shift, 4x12 hours from 6:45p-7:15a, with 3x12 schedules considered
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or compact license in hand prior to start
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
- Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted for this position
- Telemetry experience, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide care to Med/Surg patients including gastrointestinal, neurological, respiratory, and genitourinary/renal needs
- Perform colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, oxygen administration, and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Monitor cardiac status and respond to emergencies, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Follow isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Attendance at staff meetings is required
- Must complete all assigned training modules prior to start date
- Candidates must reside within 60 miles of the facility, with non-local candidates prioritized; local candidates will be considered at a reduced rate
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a travamer
- Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- During hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
