Description
Jackson HealthPros is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to assist physicians and nurses in the operating room during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety by preparing the operating room, sterilizing equipment, and providing support to the surgical team. This travel assignment is based in Sault Ste. Marie, MI at a hospital setting.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active NBSTSA certification required.
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in an operating room setting required.
- Required experience with Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, Ophthalmic, and Urology procedures.
- Proficient with C-section procedures required.
- Travel experience preferred.
- Required documentation: current work history and skills checklist within the last year.
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required (document).
- Profile and credential documents must be current and verifiable.
Assignment Details:
- Facility Type: Hospital (Operating Room).
- Shift Name: Days.
- Shift Hours: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM (8-hour days).
- Schedule Pattern: 4 consecutive 8-hour days followed by 5 consecutive 8-hour days (32 hour guarantee).
- Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per 4-week schedule.
- Duration: 13-week travel assignment.

The area is within roughly 1 hour of Lake Superior shoreline access and about 45 minutes to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, offering hiking and waterfall viewing. Downtown features the Soo Locks historic site and interpretive centers with maritime exhibits within walking distance for weekend visits. The locale supports outdoor recreation such as boating and fishing on the St. Marys River and nearby inland lakes, and snowmobiling and cross-country skiing opportunities in the winter within a 30–60 minute drive. Public services include regional airports and local transit options for commuting, supporting a suburban to small-city lifestyle.
Role Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and problem solve during cases.
- Verify physician preference cards and ensure supplies and instruments are available and billable accurately.
- Assemble, operate, clean, and sterilize equipment and disposables as required.
- Maintain and monitor the sterile field, recognize breaks in technique, and account for all medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps per policy.
- Set up sterile fields in a timely manner and assist the surgical team throughout procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous travel assignment experience preferred.
- Additional certifications or specialized OR training preferred.
