Living Donor Program Medical Director - MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute

The MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute (MGTI) is seeking to add a Transplant Living Donor Program Medical Director to join our team. MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute is the area’s only National Kidney Registry Donor Shield Program, providing a range of donor protections that are otherwise not offered in the region. This program provides a safety net for living kidney donors through a range of protections. MGTI is a thriving center serving metropolitan Washington D.C. and its surrounding areas and is now among the highest volume transplant centers in the country. In 2019 we performed over 290 kidney transplants including single and multi-organ transplants as well as more than 35 pancreas transplants. In addition to being primary managers for kidney and pancreas transplant patients, our transplant nephrologists play an integral role in MGTI’s extensive liver and intestinal transplant programs as well.

MGTI is an academic center with a dedication to training the next generation of transplant professionals. Faculty will work with transplant nephrology, transplant surgical, and transplant hepatology fellows as well as general nephrology fellows and house staff at Georgetown University Hospital. Additionally, within MGTI is the Center for Translational Transplant Medicine (CTTM), a unique partnership with Georgetown University School of Medicine where existing and newly funded research opportunities thrive.

Primary Role
-
- Primarily leads the Living Donor Program
- Lead efforts for efficiency and improved patient experience in Post Donation
- Lead efforts to monitor/support medical management of LD’s during to peri-post Hospitalized.
- Review and adjustment of Living Donor Medical Protocols
- Lead Living Donor Program Outreach /Liaison to Physicians
- Lead/Partner with JEU regarding marketing and education historicals
- Lead future Living Donor Research initiatives with JEU and AG
- Partner with JEU in QAPI monitoring, PI and outcomes
- Partner with VAMC- Transplant Nephrologist to meet strategic goals.
- Lead effort in Partner(Recipients) Education/Awareness
