Registered Nurse – Dialysis (Travel Assignment)
Position Overview
Cone Health is seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This role provides specialized care to patients requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments. Nurses in this department manage acutely ill patients with complex medical-surgical and critical care diagnoses, ensuring safe and effective treatment delivery across multiple campuses.
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:30 – 07:00)
- Rotation: Weekends and holidays required
- Float: Required; may float between 3 Cone Health campuses
- Call: Sunday nights only, rotational basis
Patient Population
- End stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, metabolic imbalances, dialysis access complications, drug overdoses requiring dialysis
- Apheresis patients with neurologic, renal, or hematologic/oncologic conditions
- Acutely ill patients with diverse medical-surgical or critical care diagnoses
Department Details
- Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments provided 24/7
- 9 treatment bays plus 1 isolation room for Hepatitis B patients
- Equipped for telemetry monitoring with a central cardiac monitoring station and patient call system
- Supported by certified hemodialysis technicians and a nursing secretary
- Cardiac monitoring performed by dialysis nurses during treatments
- Average patient stay: 4–5 hours per treatment
- ICU treatments performed bedside for hemodynamically unstable patients
- Peritoneal dialysis performed in patient rooms

- Tablo Dialysis Devices
- Baxter Amia PD Devices
- Spectra Optia Apheresis Devices
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of dialysis nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patient needs
- Flexibility to float between campuses and adapt to diverse patient populations
