Position Summary
CHOC Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Nephrologist to join a close-knit 5-physician division. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide patient- and family-centered care to a rapidly expanding population with a broad spectrum of renal diseases, including a substantial chronic kidney disease and chronic nephropathy cohort.
The ideal candidate brings strong clinical acumen, a commitment to diversity and health equity, and enthusiasm for education, program development, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The call schedule and work environment are well balanced, with excellent support from experienced colleagues and hospital partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient consultation services for medical/surgical units, PICU, NICU, CVICU, and oncology teams
- Provide acute inpatient dialysis
- Attend outpatient clinics, including multidisciplinary nephrology clinics and outreach clinics in Newport Beach, Irvine,
- Mission Viejo, Corona, and Whittier
- Participate in rheumatology/nephrology, tuberous sclerosis, fetal center, and TMA multidisciplinary clinics
- Contribute to the development of our new pediatric chronic dialysis unit, which is the only pediatric dialysis unit in Orange County
- Collaborate with local transplant centers for pre-transplant coordination and continuity
- Participate in CME activities: pathology/nephrology conference, radiology/urology/nephrology conference, fetal center conferences, grand rounds, resident noon conference, and community physician presentations
- Teach and mentor medical students and pediatric residents
- Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities, with opportunity for academic appointment at UC Irvine
- Participate in CHOC Specialist and hospital committees, program development, operations, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Rady Children’s San Diego colleagues across the unified RCH enterprise

As a Pediatric Nephrologist within CHOC Specialists, you will be part of a collaborative, mission-driven pediatric subspecialty group comprising more than 350 physicians and advanced practice providers across 24 subspecialties. The team practices at Rady Children’s Hospital of Orange County, a premier pediatric healthcare system with a state-of-the-art freestanding children's hospital and multiple satellite clinics.

Compensation
Salary, benefits, and academic range are competitive and commensurate with experience. Additional bonus and incentive programs are available.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship
- Valid California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Strong clinical acumen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
- Experience in scholarly work or interest in expanding research involvement
